2026 Summer Recreational Softball Registration

Register early for the best pricing and priority consideration for special requests!

Join the WAA Recreational Softball Program for a summer of fun and fastpitch action! Our program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of softball — including hitting, throwing, catching, and base running — while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship in a positive, supportive environment.

The Recreational Softball Program offers four divisions, based on your player’s current spring school grade at the time of registration. (Division details are listed below.)

WAA partners with School District 204, Fox Valley Park District, Wheatland Township, and Naperville Park District to provide fields. Games are played within the boundaries of these organizations. Teams are formed using special requests*, neighborhoods, and schools as guidelines. Travel players are not permitted.

All teams are coached by volunteers, who will select their team’s practice day, time, and location. Rosters, schedules, uniforms, and equipment are distributed to coaches in early May. Game and practice schedules are finalized after all coach meetings are completed, and players will be contacted by their head coach within 48 hours of the meeting.

Games are scheduled as close to team neighborhoods as possible. The 12-game season begins after Memorial Day and runs through mid-July.

*For requests to be considered, the registration must be turned in by the request deadline.

Game Schedules

  • 1st–2nd Grade: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:15 PM

  • 3rd–8th Grade: Typically one weeknight game (6:15 PM) and one Saturday game (times vary)

🔹 Please register using your child’s current grade as of January 1, 2026.

Coaching Descriptions:

Head coach:

Primary responsibility for management, instruction, and motivation of the team. A solid understanding of the rules of softball is helpful and a desire to teach softball fundamentals to children is necessary.  The head coach notifies all team members within 48 hours of coaches meeting/equipment hand-out.  Provides team with roster, game and practice schedules, uniforms, rulebook, and picture information. Head Coach must adhere to the WAA Code of Conduct and is subject to a background check.

Assistant Coach:  Assists the head coach. A solid understanding of the rules of softball is helpful and a desire to teach softball fundamentals to children is necessary. Assistant Coach must adhere to the WAA Code of Conduct and is subject to a background check.

Special Requests

Remember: Special requests for team placement will be considered carefully, but there is NO GUARANTEE they will be honored.  For requests to be considered, the registration should be submitted as early as possible.  Requests are considered on a first come, first serve priority.  Each participant is limited to two requests (eg, friend, coach) per registration.   WAA tries to place children based on special requests, neighborhood and school.  However, we need to make balanced rosters and we are limited by the number of volunteer head coaches.  Please spell names of requested players/coaches correctly.
